Building Opportunities for Resilience in the Horn of Africa (BORESHA II) Program is a cross border project implemented by a consortium of the Danish Refugee Council, World Vision, and CARE International with funding from European Union Trust Fund for Africa. BORESHA works with local communities and public authorities to establish transformative processes to enhance the cross border socio-economic integration and support resilience in the fragile and underdeveloped borderland areas between Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia. Specific objective of the project is to promote economic and private sector development, and greater resilience, particularly among vulnerable groups including Youth at risk in the Mandera triangle.
In the Mandera Triangle there are two Partners who are funded by EUTF BORESHA and RASMI. The two partners has been coordination and synergizing activities in the Mandera triangle to support the youths who are at very high risk of unemployment and fear to be recruited into terror groups. The 2 EUTF funded programs (RASMI and BORESHA programs) jointly inducted 50 youths on 4th June 2021 who were linked by RASMI to BORESHA to be enrolled into various TVET courses e.g driving, tailoring This is part of the initiatives by the two EUTF programs focusing to empower the young people in this borderland to reduce their vulnerability to social hazards including possible recruitment into terror groups, involvements in drug and substance abuse and illegal migrations to abroad while increasing their capacities to strengthen their resilience to constant contextual shocks. The youth leaders selected from different locations of Mandera County are part of the youth previously engaged by RASMI project and were trained on conflict management and prevention, and counter violent extremisms strategies to increase their awareness on violence extremism and improve their participations in peacebuilding and managements of border security.
